Quality of Life Surveys of Broward County

Approximately once every two years, The Coordinating Council of Broward (CCB) hires Professional Research Consultants, Inc. (www.prconline.com), of Omaha, Nebraska, to conduct a public opinion survey of Broward County residents by telephone.  An initial survey with a focus on health was sponsored by Memorial Healthcare System in 1994.  CCB-sponsored surveys were conducted in 1997, 1999/2000, 2002 and 2004, each with a sample size of 2,400.  The sample size was reduced to 1,000 for the 2006, 2008 and 2011 surveys.

The results of the CCB-sponsored surveys, each of which contains over 150 questions about quality of life issues in Broward County, are available in four basic formats (see table below):

  • a printable report that presents a summary of the results with color graphs and compares the results of the current survey with past Broward County surveys and other surveys for Florida and the US, in Acrobat Reader format (.PDF);

  • a slide show with the same graphics, in PowerPoint (.PPT);

  • a series of cross tabulations by age, gender, race/ethnicity, poverty level and religion, in Acrobat Reader format (.PDF); and

  • real-time results, that can be cross-tabulated as needed by the user (www.prceasyview.com, User ID = broward, Password = ccb).

Copies of the actual survey forms also are included below, to enable an understanding of the specific questions asked and any conditions that may have applied as to who was asked each question.
