Overview
Broward,
Miami-Dade, and Monroe Counties as a group are designated as an Economic
Development District (EDD), and are eligible for program assistance
provided under the Public Works and Economic Development Act since May 20,
1994. The program is managed by the US Economic Development Administration
(EDA). The South Florida Regional Planning Council is the District’s
“Planning Organization,” receiving annual EDA planning funding to
develop a Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for the
District and carry out a program of planning and technical assistance for
member local governments in creating and/or retaining jobs.

CEDS
The
Council's Comprehensive Economic Development
Strategy provides economic information and technical assistance to
local governments, private businesses, and neighborhood-based
organizations with respect to the creation and expansion of employment
opportunities, thereby maintaining our designation as an Economic
Development District.
As the District’s “Planning Organization”, the South Florida
Regional Planning Council has updated the 5-year
Comprehensive Economic Development Strategy (CEDS) for the District.
Click the respective links for the CEDS brochure about the update process
and the final
